Part-Time VOLUNTEER Bookkeeping Assistant

General Job Description:

The position of Bookkeeper is intended to provide transactional support to the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance. Day to day tasks include entering new transactions and tracking them through the verification and payment process. Larger data-entry or data-verification projects will be assigned as needed. The bookkeeper will also learn and assist with documentation of all processes in the Finance Department.  

Tasks:

  • Create Financial Transactions

    • Enter bills in Bill.com for processing

    • Enter donations received in QBO and Salesforce.com

  • Create Thank You Letters for donations and Grants

  • Count Thelma's Kitchen Cash Drawer Daily

  • Creation of Process Documentation

  • Make deposits (cash and large checks) at banks

  • Reconcile bank accounts each month

  • Follow up on tax agencies and confirm compliance

  • Monitor and Record changes to grant expenses

  • Assist with Foster Grandparent Program monthly stipends

  • Scan and Record grant letters

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • General knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel and Sheets are used)

  • Familiarity with accounting software, especially QBO, is a plus 

  • Great attention to detail

  • Organization and process oriented
