“I just love working with the children.”
When families show up at the Family Courthouse it is usually a very difficult circumstance that has brought them there. Grandma Barton understands this. That is why she has given the last 24 years of her life to volunteering with the kids that come into the Courthouse. Over the years, Grandma Barton has shared her time, attention, and heart with hundreds of children — reading them stories, listening to their concerns, playing games with them, providing imaginative toys for them. And, at 94-years-old, she said her time volunteering isn’t over yet.
Grandma Barton volunteers in our Foster Grandparents Program, which is a partnership with Senior Corps and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Our Foster grandparents are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children each year. They are revealing strength in these young people by sharing their own!
